Strategic design of the Las Cigarreras residence program

The Las Cigarreras Cultural Center had been experimenting for years with different models of artistic residencies, especially in the performing arts. In 2021, the Alicante City Council decided to take a step forward by creating the Las Cigarreras Performing Arts Residency Grants. To this end, they enlisted Interfaz to structure the program's strategic framework, draft the regulations, and design an agile, coherent tool open to the local and national creative community.

Interfaz's work included designing the application system, the selection criteria, and the monitoring and evaluation process, as well as developing a specific assessment questionnaire for the first resident groups, which provided key data for future editions. Following the success of this first call for applications, the idea arose to expand the program to other disciplines (electronic music, audiovisual, photography, interdisciplinary research), leading to a second commission: to support the drafting of the technical and legal specifications for the tender for the comprehensive residency management service.

The approach was based on national and international reference models, adapted to the specific context of Las Cigarreras and aligned with the municipality's EDUSI strategy. A mixed support model was proposed, with clearly defined roles for both the municipal technical team and the managing entities, ensuring both professionalization and attention to the context.
